The drama will focus on the lives of the women of the Air Transport Auxiliary, a brave band of sisters who, during WWII, flew new aircraft from factories to airfields, or took badly damaged planes back the other way. They often risked their lives and lost many loved ones, but their bravery and camaraderie overcame prejudice to forge a new breed of woman. Zaytoun is the story of the unlikely alliance between a 10-year old Palestinian refugee and an Israeli fighter pilot shot down over Beirut in 1982. Their initial distrust develops into friendship as they make their way across war-torn Lebanon to a place they both call home. Gareth Unwin will co-produce the film with Fred Ritzenberg of Far Films from a script by first time Palestinian writer Nader Rizq, with Israeli director Eran Riklis (Lemon Tree and The Syrian Bride) signed on to helm the film.
