Bedlam announce first TV drama series

Bedlam have joined forces with New Zealand-based South Pacific Pictures to develop their first television drama series, Spitfire Girls.

The drama will focus on the lives of the women of the Air Transport Auxiliary, a brave band of sisters who, during WWII, flew new aircraft from factories to airfields, or took badly damaged planes back the other way. They often risked their lives and lost many loved ones, but their bravery and camaraderie overcame prejudice to forge a new breed of woman.

The series will be produced by Bedlam's Gareth Unwin alongside Liz Trubridge, best known for the hugely successful series Downton Abbey, and John Barnett of South Pacific Pictures. More details will follow.

Royal Nuptials

The forthcoming royal nuptials will have half the world glued to their television screens in a month's time, but more importantly Bedlam's new documentary The King's Speech Revealed will be showing on Five on 4th May at 8pm. The film goes behind the scenes of The King's Speech with Mark Logue as he sets out to discover the truth about his grandfather Lionel, memorably portrayed in the film by Geoffrey Rush.

Rush also contributes to the documentary, along with Oscar-winning writer David Seidler, as they describe how they brought Lionel and his relationship with King George VI to life. As Mark travels from Australia to the UK, meeting family members and former patients, Lionel becomes an increasingly vivid figure with a remarkable and unique life story.

Tune in at 8pm on 4th May for a very royal week and some great TV.
